This project, Multiplayer Asteroids, is my specialization project that I’m making as a school course.
I want to specialize into network multiplayer, but to use this in a context I chose Asteroids. I think the game is great for multiplayer since it won’t change the core gameplay too much, if not friendly fire is on of course. So I’m going to create an Asteroids game with multiplayer for up to 4 players. I will focus on the network related problems caused by the latency. I will have to implement client-side prediction and entity interpolation (possible extrapolation also) in order to make the game playable. I have never implemented those before and I have never gone so far that I’ve used network in a game before, so this is a huge project for me.
