About

This blog follows our progress creating a character that will be integrated into filmed material. We wanted to create a realistic fantasy forest creature so we went on to start working on our Huldra.

Sandra Isaksson will be in charge of the modelling and texturing of the Huldra while Andreas Rånman will bring it to life rigging and animating it.

The progress of modeling, from idea to a finished textured and high detailed model is the area I find most interesting in computer graphics. I want to learn how to model more time efficient and polish my artist skills in anatomy and texturing. So a character project was the ideal project for me. Together with Andreas Rånman who will be in charge of rigging and animation, we will strive to make a realistic character posted into a real life shot.

Since seeing Aslan in the “behind the scene” footage from Narnia I’ve had an urge to try create a muscle-rigg. It just looked so impressing in the breakdown when one first saw the skeleton then seeing the muscles being added – it just showed the amount of work put into the character creation. I thought it would be a fun challenge to try and rigg and animate a character to be implemented into filmed material.
